Some centuries before, There was a time that logic and philosophy were considers as major subjects for any kind of intellectual student r human…,,even these subjects were IN the culture .
the most literal cultures of the ancient world…..greec, roman……iraniann…..gandhara etc…..still remembered as cultural wonders of the history ……..the main thing behind this, as I think , …due to their high level of logic and philosophy….
Islamic history and culture has big names in logic and philosophy, every muslim scientist
was great philosopher and logician as well……
and
if we take the history frm newton to Einstein, each single scientist holds the qualities of good philosopher and logician…..and they made the historical changes……
But unfortunately…….now a days……..majority of our students r very poor in these two subjects…….
In maths too…..students event dnt bother himself to read any single philosophical r logic book……
These types of students or researchers can travel on tracks…..but cannt mak any new track…….. matlbb wo kaam sy kaam tu nikaal lain gy…lkn kabi bhi koi NEW….ya worth full kaam nai kr paaty……..

A university faculty member is supposed to be an intellectual. He/she needs to read serious books on various topics: mathematical and otherwise. Generally faculty members are from families lacking traditions necessary for a taste for knowledge and scholarship. They are concerned more about ‘bread and butter’.

Graham Higman FRS (19 January 1917 — 8 April 2008) was a leading British mathematician. Was just watching GEO TV for news here when saw a commercial add about The University of South Asia (the mockery is that they did not forget to abbreviate it as USA)! Friends, do you think Universities need advertisements of TV channels? To be frank, I found it ridicules! This is because we have allowed those, who have never attended a University themselves, to act as Rectors, VCs and Presidents (or whatsoever they would like to call themselves) of our (or maybe their) Universities.
Friends, if we will not rise our voices against this corporate education, promoted by these pseudo academics, it will not take much long to reach a point of no return. These Crocodiles want to make it an industry, where the aim would be to make money.
KHAWAJA DIL MUHAMMAD: (1884-1961)-
Poet, mathematician, educationist and author. He started his professional life as a lecturer of Islamia College Lahore and retired from that institution in the capacity of Principal. Composed a book under the title “Sad-para-e-dil” (Rubaiyat) and Urdu dictionary under the tittle “Gulzar-e-Maanie”. He also wrote more than thirty-two books on mathematics.

international conference “Kangro-100. Methods of Analysis and Algebra”,
dedicated to the centennial of professor Gunnar Kangro.
The conference will be held in Tartu, Estonia, on September 1-6, 2013.
The conference is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
Topics of the conference are modern methods of analysis and algebra.

Conference fee for early registration is 30 EUR for participants and
accompanying persons. For late registration the fee is 100 EUR. There
is no fee for students. The fee can be paid by Credit Card or Bank
transfer. It includes conference materials, welcome reception,
conference banquet, coffee breaks, and excursions.
Deadline for early registration is May 15.
Deadline for submitting the abstracts is July 15.
The Scientific and Organizing Committee asks those participants who
need an official invitation to inform us about it as soon as possible.

The NSAC is a series of conferences organised every four years, with particular emphasis
to areas of algebra and related fields that have been cultivated by researchers from Novi Sad.
The main topics of the 4th edition of NSAC include:
– Universal algebra and its applications in computer science (in particular,
in Constraint Satisfaction Problems);
– Lattices and other ordered structures;
– Model theory and set theory;
– Connections between algebra, logic, and combinatorics.
In addition, the conference will be integrated with the workshop SEMIGROUPS AND APPLICATIONS 2013

– Semigroup theory, automata, groups, and their interactions.

Dear Colleagues,
The Institute of Mathematics of the University of Tartu in collaboration with Estonian Doctoral School in Mathematics and Statistics will organize the workshop
“Algebra and its applications”
on April 26-28, 2013,
in Holiday Center of Piusa Valley (Piusa Ürgoru Puhkekeskus),
Väiko-Härmä village, Estonia.
This annual spring workshop has traditionally attracted mathematicians interested in various areas of algebra such as universal algebra, semigroup theory, group theory, lattice theory, category theory and linear algebra. Also, we always welcome talks on applications of algebra in other disciplines, such as computer science, topology, geometry etc.
The website of the workshop is at http://math.ut.ee/~vlaan/kaariku/ . The working language of the workshop is English.
All participants will be offered an opportunity to present a 25-minutes talk or a 50-minutes talk. Those who wish to give a talk are asked to send us the abstract prepared using the template file which can be found
on the website. For a presentation, it is possible to use a laptop
computer with a projector, or a whiteboard.
The workshop will take place at the Holiday Center of Piusa Valley (http://www.puhkemaja.ee/) in South-East Estonia, a region called Setomaa, in Väiko-Härmä village. This is about 100 km from Tartu. The event starts in Friday afternoon and ends at Sunday noon. The transportation between Tartu and the Holiday Center will be arranged by the organizers.
There is no participation fee for the workshop. The cost of accommodation (for 2 nights, including breakfast) is 38 euros. Unfortunately, it will not be very easy to arrange single accommodation, but if you have such a wish, please let us know in advance. The costs of PhD students of the doctoral school and their supervisors are covered by the doctoral school. It may happen that we are also able to cover the meals and accommodation of some other guests.
Please let us know if you wish to participate in the workshop by sending us by e-mail the registration form below, and also please feel free to inform your possibly interested colleagues or students about the workshop. Finally, let us draw your attention to the fact that on September 1-6, 2013, there will be a conference “Methods of Analysis and Algebra” in Tartu dedicated to centennial anniversary of Professor Gunnar Kangro, the most famous Estonian mathematician of his time.
